The short version: Good Tip does not collect, store, or share your personal data. Everything the app needs stays on your device.
This privacy policy explains how Good Tip ("the app", "we") handles information when you use the Good Tip iOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the app works.
Good Tip does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information on external servers. We do not operate any servers that receive data from your device. Specifically:
The app requests the following device permissions. All data accessed through these permissions is used only in real time to provide app features and is never stored or transmitted to us.
Location (While Using the App)
Used to detect the venue you are currently at and suggest appropriate tipping guidance for that location. Location data is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service (for weather-dependent tipping contexts, such as outdoor service roles) and to Google Places (to identify nearby venues). It is not stored by us.
Camera
Used to scan a bill or receipt so the app can automatically detect the total amount. Images captured by the camera are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded or stored.
Microphone & Speech Recognition
Used if you choose to enter a bill amount by voice. Audio is processed by Apple's on-device speech recognition framework. We do not receive or store any audio or transcription data.
Good Tip uses the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy.
Apple WeatherKit
Used to provide weather context for tipping (for example, outdoor service roles in rain or heat). Apple may receive your approximate location to return weather data. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Google Places API
Used to identify the venue you are at based on your location so the app can suggest relevant service roles and tip amounts. Google may receive your location. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Good Tip saves your preferences and settings locally on your device using Apple's standard UserDefaults storage. This data never leaves your device and can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the app.
Good Tip is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
